A bright idea: using a plasma lamp as a reactor
It sounds like a do-it-yourself project: take a tube light and convert it into a chemical reactor. Yet DIFFER researcher Edwin Devid received an NWO-XS grant for a project proposal to do just that. Within a year, Devid wants to build a device that can efficiently convert CO2 into green chemicals and fuels with renewable electricity.

DIFFER to lead new consortium on green hydrogen generation
Green hydrogen as a means of storing electrical energy is the future. The new SCALE consortium headed by DIFFER will investigate a new approach to generate hydrogen. DIFFER, together with the TU/e and a number of other parties was recently awarded 1.25 M€ of funding by NWO for this new project to prepare the ground for the next generation of so-called AEM water electrolysers.

Innovative divertor design ready to be tested for DEMO
“I like to think out-of-the-box. So when my TU/e supervisor Niek Lopes Cardozo asked me if we could use 3D-printing to fix a long standing problem in fusion reactors, that's what I did. I designed a divertor using liquid metal contained by 3D-printed tungsten."
Peter Rindt, postdoctoral researcher at DIFFER, about his recent research.

New calculations reveal what's happening in plasma
Imagine converting CO2 into useful molecules, only by heating it to a plasma with a microwave. Researchers at DIFFER can, but nobody really understands the processes that take place in the plasma. Let alone be able to make the process efficient. DIFFER researcher Luca Vialetto can calculate what is going on.

Wandmateriaal fusiereactor overleeft helse condities
